Books, Ledgers and Manuscripts
Books, ledgers, and manuscripts often contain essential and valuable data, frequently of significant historical interest. However, such documents can be challenging to work with, may be in a fragile state, and generally require specialised storage space. Digitising these types of documents reduces wear and tear on the delicate materials, decreases storage demands, and makes the information within them more conveniently accessible.
AppleCore Document Services recognises both the value and importance of these bound documents and the information they contain. We use the latest specialist technology to ensure the production of the best possible digital images from books, ledgers, manuscripts, magazines, and bound documents while guaranteeing that our scanning procedures are gentle on your materials.
Special scanning techniques are employed to ensure proper scanning even into the folds or spines of bound documents, resulting in complete distortion-free image capture. Our staff are highly experienced and skilled in handling such items, including those of significant historical value.
We can scan bound documents up to A1 size and are happy to provide a demo of the outputs produced, which include PDF, PDF/A, JPEG, TIFF, PNM, and Multipage PDFs.
Our experts can discuss your specific requirements and develop a digitisation plan tailored to you, including: collection of the documents, indexing to your specifications, delivery of digitised documents for uploading to your own in-house software or to software provided by us. We can also arrange for the return of the original documentation or (depending on your requirements) microfilming of the documents and/or destruction of the originals.
